Show HN: A visual guide to Box Breathing
lassebomh.github.ioA recent post on HN got me thinking about how to visualize box breathing, and this is the result. I hope you'll find it useful
It can easily be installed as an app (PWA) on mobile or desktop for offline/easy access. Instructions are at the bottom of the page.

Happy breathing HN This is just so well designed. No confusion, no fluff, just clean, easy, and useful. GJ props Box breathing seems interesting but I find that it makes me anxious and my heart rate climbs as I do it. Isn’t it supposed to do the opposite of this? Just in case you are interested in trying something else, I can recommend, 4-8-7-0 instead, it's amazing for really calming me down. 4-7-8-0, mixed up the numbers. Not sure if it matters, though ;) I feel like I'm suffocating while trying it. I don't really bother holding my breath when I'm trying to relax. I just focus finding a smooth pace of inhaling and exhaling a bit of a gap between breaths. For me the "I feel like I'm suffocating" was just caused by not taking a deep enough breath. If you're breathing slow, you also need to take in more air on each breath to get enough. Nice. A while ago I made a similar graphic as an iPhone widget. I found it useful to have the reminder when I picked up my phone. Open source code is here: https://github.com/crenwick/BoxBreathing Still amazing to me that the neurophysiology dictates that slower breathing lowers heart rate and faster breathing increases heart rate. This is great! Thank you for taking the time to create it. This is a neat little thing you've made here. I feel more relaxed just watching it. another similar resource https://quietkit.com/box-breathing/ This is dope! So simple but really nicely executed. Thanks! love it! Thank you. I've been needing some stress techniques recently, and this has helped out a lot!
