I don't see how these can simultaneously be true?
Are gay people allowed to be teachers, nurses, crossing guards, characters in books, celebrated historical figures or not? If you decide to ostracize them from these roles, how will you achieve that without violence?
Might be more accurate to say "I believe there should be less ostracism and violence but I'm not comfortable with phasing it out entirely yet."
