EU's New Digital Proposal Is Good for Users, Not for Profits
theprecondition.comi am hopeful i can finally stay on matrix while get people who cannot be bothered to leave whatsapp to talk to me.
would it be like how we currently send emails? like i don't know if exampl34@gmail.com exists but i still send it. if it does exist, it is delivered otherwise i am told no result.
any idea when we can start to see fruits of this interoperability?

awesome. so, i have a question. does this interoperability mean say unless india implements a similar directive, these companies are only going to comply if you are in EU or they will let the option open for everyone?
Sounds good, though previous EU initiatives have been blunted by lobbying and non-compliance. Possibly China's recent moves in similar directions will make it more obvious when the EU backslides. Maybe one day soon the US will join them and a new dawn of technological capitalism based on multiple competing services trying to meet user needs rather than achieve network lock-in will arise.
It's kind of interesting to imagine what could have been if so much human effort hadn't been poured into trapping people into walled gardens.
