The fantastic battery life of the current batch of M1 Macs was a complete fluke, in an interview Apple managers have said that they were surprised by just how efficient the final chips turned out. Now that they have a handle on that they can make the laptops even thinner and go back to their target battery life of 10 hours of "mobile productivity" (which means like 1 hour of editing Swift code)
That's the curse of "product management"
